IMES, a leading marine and subsea company, has been formally recognised for the high level of its crane and lifting independent inspection services.
The company, which has its headquarters in Aberdeen,has received accreditation to ISO 17020:2012 as a Type C body from UKAS (the United Kingdom Accreditation Service), which relates to inspection bodies.
IMES is one of the first in its sector to receive the 2012 standard accreditation. The company provides load life cycle management solutions to the oil & gas, defence and industrial markets.
UKAS is the only national accreditation body recognised by the UK Government to assess the competence of organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
Following rigorous assessment of company principles, practices and procedures, IMES has completed the transition to the new industry standard which enhances the company’s credibility to inspect and report on clients’ equipment. IMES previously held accreditation to ISO 17020:1998.

In addition, IMES possesses the following certifications: ISO 14001:2004 (environmental management system); ISO 9001:2008 (quality management system); OHSAS 18001:2007 (occupational health & safety management system). It has Baseefa certification for the manufacture, assembly and testing of explosion protected electrical equipmentin hazardous areas.
The company is also a member of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) and is certified by Lloyds Register as an approved supplier.As a result, it is fully compliant with the requirements of LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations).
